We arrived in Sancti Spiritus in the early afternoon. The weather was beautiful. The sky was blue with puffy white clouds and although it was hot and humid no one complained. We were ecstatic and ready to go. We checked in, refreshed a bit and then called my aunt's house. I asked her if she would send someone to pick us up (our hotel was about 5 miles from the center of town). My aunt explained that it was Father's Day and that it was going to be nearly impossible for us to find transportation. Well, nothing was going to stop us. We figured we could start walking and maybe find something on the way. God is good. After walking for a few minutes we came across a horse and buggy. We asked the driver if he could take us, but he explained that the horse needed to be fed and it would take awhile. We decided to keep walking. All of the sudden a cement truck appeared. We all started flagging him down. The driver stopped and told us he had a delivery to make, but that if we were still walking when he came back he would pick us up. ...And he did. It was not easy to get up on that truck, but hey, that's the life of a missionary.
